Without the huge bed in the room, it feels cavernous.  <\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4311\" title=\"img_5561\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_5561.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_5561.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_5561-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>The house is feeling strange.  Posh, even. \u00c2\u00a0 There are no boxes piled in the kids&#8217; &#8220;play&#8221; area.\u00c2\u00a0 Toys are displayed in places where kids can reach them and use them.\u00c2\u00a0 Children have separate areas.\u00c2\u00a0 There are places for imaginative play.\u00c2\u00a0 We are not stepping over drying pieces of wood trim.\u00c2\u00a0 Unprotected tools, wires, and other dangerous equipment are limited to a few places.<\/p>\n<p>The canopy was one of Kate&#8217;s Christmas presents.\u00c2\u00a0 It has flowers and butterflies to decorate and hang at the top&#8230; I&#8217;ll tackle doing that with her one afternoon when I can pack up my crazies tight in a box and be okay with her going wild on those perfect little flowers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4320\" title=\"img_55781\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55781.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55781.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55781-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>We never painted Kate&#8217;s closet doors.\u00c2\u00a0 This is because we keep going back and forth on whether or not we&#8217;re going to put my Great-Grandmother&#8217;s vanity beside the closet &#8212; which would prevent the doors from opening.\u00c2\u00a0 If we did this, we were going to hang curtains over the door openings.\u00c2\u00a0 I actually have had the curtains since before Kate was born&#8230; but we can&#8217;t decide whether to actually move the vanity.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, I seem to favor discussing the possibilities more than actually doing them.  Also, I really like to move furniture around.<\/p>\n<p>Now the thought is that we&#8217;re going to move the bookshelf into Will&#8217;s room and put the mirror up on the wall for Kate, with hooks along side to hang her hats and masks for dress up.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4323\" title=\"img_55891\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55891.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55891.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55891-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>These wood pieces are from Iquitos.\u00c2\u00a0 A butterfly and 2 parrots are missing &#8212; they were missing anchors on their backs for hanging.\u00c2\u00a0 Another trip to the hardware store and they&#8217;ll join the bunch.<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4322\" title=\"img_55831\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55831.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55831.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_55831-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>I finished this painting the night before Will was born&#8230; I never even signed my name!\u00c2\u00a0 Kate calls it &#8220;Mommy,&#8221; which I love.\u00c2\u00a0 The angels and moon\/stars are <a href=\"http:\/\/nancythomas.com\/\">Nancy Thomas<\/a>, compliments of my Mother&#8217;s wonderful taste in fun, lively art.\u00c2\u00a0 (She worked for Nancy in her studio\/store in Yorktown when I was in college.)<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4324\" title=\"img_56161\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56161.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56161.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56161-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Kate has been enthralled with each and every part of the room&#8230; I was surprised she stopped for a second to smile at the camera!<\/p>\n<p>The art on the door is from Will &#8212; maybe it&#8217;s time for Kate to hang up some door art?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m trying to think of other ways to display their art around the house&#8230; cords hanging on the walls to display pieces like a laundry line?\u00c2\u00a0 Other ideas?\u00c2\u00a0 It seems like they bring home volumes of paper from school and it just piles up in the kitchen.\u00c2\u00a0 With all the space in their rooms, I feel like it should have a place, too, where the kids can be proud of what they have done.\u00c2\u00a0 What do other parents do?<\/p>\n<p><a><\/a><center><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4325\" title=\"img_56271\" src=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"749\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56271.jpg 683w, http:\/\/www.coldspaghetti.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/img_56271-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><a><\/a><\/center><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kate&#8217;s room, as seen last night while the kids were in the tub.\u00c2\u00a0 It is now officially Kate&#8217;s room.
