Thanks! Jenny — I’m laughing at the barrette/pigtail thing, because (much to the chagrin of some) she is hilarious… rips them out in a red hot second. Apple, tree.

I saw how you have Katie’s hair cut and I disagree with your husband and son. Super straight hair on kids is hard to keep looking nice and clean. Her haircut is perfect for her face. And this is from a person who has lived with super straight hair all her life.

A variation could be a Dorthy Hamil wedge cut or maybe bangs with an top of an oval shape around the eyes. But that involves her sitting still for longer than 5 minutes. Is that worth the fight or bribery necessary – no. Keep it simple. Make your life easier rather than harder.

i think kate’s hair is cute. as a super-straight hair sufferer myself, i know there’s not much you can do with it at that age, other than the cut she’s got, or perhaps letting it grow out a bit and giving her bangs.

(and i can’t believe i’m going to write this, but) if you want her to look girlier, you could pull the hair out of her face with a barrette or into a top-of-the-head pigtail.
